Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MidiPro.org ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit midipro.org and use the Online MIDI Editor & Player.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for this website is the operator of MidiPro.org. For contact details, please refer to our Imprint.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate this service:
- Server log files: Your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, date and time of access. These are automatically transmitted by your browser and are stored temporarily for security and diagnostic purposes.
- MIDI and audio data: Any MIDI files or audio you create or upload in the Editor are processed entirely in your browser and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
The MIDI Editor runs entirely client-side. Your compositions, uploaded files, and audio recordings never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to download or share them.
3. Cookies & Local Storage
MidiPro.org does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We may use browser local storage to save your editor preferences (e.g. last instrument selection, tempo settings) between sessions. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following external services that may process your data:
- Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's servers. Google may collect your IP address as part of this request. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking or advertising platform.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, our legal basis for processing server log data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests) — specifically, ensuring the security and proper functioning of the website. Log files are deleted after 7 days.
6. Data Retention
Server log files are retained for a maximum of 7 days and then automatically deleted, unless a longer retention period is required by law (e.g. in the event of a security incident).
7. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection law (including GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
To exercise these rights, please contact us via the address listed in our Imprint.
8. Children's Privacy
MidiPro.org is a general-purpose music tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
10. Contact
For any privacy-related questions, please refer to the contact details in our Imprint.
